The Bookworm Project
I'm not a critic. Nor am I a writer. In fact, I have nothing to do with the literary world. But I really, really love reading books. So much so that I have banned myself from Barnes and Nobles and Border's for fear of spending my life savings inside their cavernous interiors of awesome. In lieu of going broke and having to move back in with mom and dad, I compiled a list over the past 4-5 years (I think) of 271 books that appear to be interesting or have somehow entered my consciousness. I kept adding to this list until I recently decided that instead of forever adding to the list, I should close it and start reding them before they (or I) become obsolete. So, I got myself a library card, printed out my list, which stands at 8 pages in length, and started reading. I figured I should add a time limit to this endeavor so it doesn't take me 50 years. 13 months it is. Which means roughly 1.5 days per book. Yeesh.
I'm blogging about it because A) I suck at keeping journals and I usually lose them; B) I need somewhere to voice my opinions about these books so these same opinions don't clutter up my brain; and C) I tend to be long-winded so Twitter is absolutely useless for me. And I refuse to tweet. Or twat. Or whatever.
I truly don't expect anyone ever to read this, but if you did somehow stumble onto this blog, well hey. Welcome. A few more things you should know:
1) Again, I'm in no way, shape, or form associated with the literary world. I'm simply a girl who likes to read and express her opinion. It may be sometimes witty, at times uneducated, but it will always be my first impressions upon finishing the book.
2) I'm not in 7th grade, so I'm not writing book reports anymore- don't expect a plot synopsis. I won't give away surprise endings or spoilers either- I'm too big of a Lost addict to do that.
3) Occasionally, I may jump off the list and read something else that I found interesting in the library. I'll note it in the blog, and the goal will still remain the same. So really, I'm just making added work for myself.
4) There is no order to what book I will read next. I walk into the library, pick some at random, and if they're available, fantastic. If not, I just get more random books until I think I have enough.
Of course, I always appreciate suggestions for new books or comments if you've read one of the books I've written about. Let me know you're thoughts, even if you disagree. ESPECIALLY if you disagree!
